A little taste of Austin

This past weekend we went to Austin. Brian and some of his friends and coworkers participated in the Austin Marathon. It was a great trip. For some reason our kids love staying at hotels and like the idea of a vacation. Brian picked the perfect hotel in downtown Austin. It was only a quarter mile from the start line and the raced passed the hotel at the very start and relatively close by at mile 6. We were able to see Brian three times and the kids loved cheering on their dad. Luckily, I thought we should get to the finish line a little early and I am glad we did. Brian finished with a personal record beating his last time by nearly 5 minutes. He ran 13.1 miles in about 1 hour and 36 minutes. After the race we headed to the hotel for breakfast and then back to the finish line to watch Brians friends complete the full marathon.

We did not get to see everyone we wanted to see. The race had 15,000 plua people so it was pretty crowded. However, we did meet up with some friends for a late lunch and finally made it back home. The kids did not want to leave the hotel. Jeremiah told us that he wanted to move to Austin. We have to agree that Austin is a great city, definitely a different atmosphere. I am sure we will make another trip up there, but here are pics of the race...

Jeremiah and Annalise all bundled up munching on some snacks while we watch the runners. The kids really enjoyed watching the race.
